Sample Projects

The following are examples of cases in which my expertise and experience in the fields of performance optimisation have contributed to the successful resolution of challenges facing modern, international companies. As these brief case studies illustrate, I accompany the optimisation process by supporting and administering the solutions best suited to my clients' specific needs.

1. Cargo Logistics Management

Situation
Changes in the organizational structure create additional responsibilities for the managers of an international company. The managers have plenty of experience and are experts in their field, but they lack the advanced skills and knowledge required to run a cost effective and process oriented facility.

Goal
The goal is to both improve management performance and optimise processes. The practical application of tools and knowledge enables situations to be analysed and changes implemented locally by international logistics managers.
This will be administered in the German headquarters for managers located all over the world.

Solution
A programme was designed to combine theory, knowledge, tests and practical transfer opportunities. A system of selection criteria and procedures for selecting the target group was developed. Content was created for a programme of training courses, coaching sessions, and certification in the areas of project management, process optimisation, communication, and management skills. Programme participants were coached through the implementation phase and their progress was evaluated. A final exam with practical and theoretic parts ensured comprehension of the new information and understanding of the tools.

2. Upgrade International Customer Service

Situation
An international cargo transport company would like to upgrade the service it provides for its customers worldwide and intensify employee identification with the organisation.

Goal
The goals here are twofold: to develop methods which enable the company to better handle the challenges facing them in the global arena, and to find ways to improve individual motivation in day to day work processes. In addition, the program should provide cross-nation consistency in methods, while allowing flexibility regarding local culture and regulations.

Solution
A training programme was designed to incorporate situations from real life business experience into role-plays and case studies. The results of this programme formed the basis for follow-up initiatives and procedures specific to the company's requirements and local situations. The program was managed from company headquarters in Germany and administered world-wide in countries such as England, Singapore, China and the USA.

3. Selling Skills for Challenging Times

Situation
Economic downturn leads to a reduction in sales. Employees require motivation and confidence to master the challenges posed by global and local business situations.

Goal
Increase familiarity and optimise the use of existing materials and tools while simultaneously incorporating new techniques. Develop internal support networks and create confidence in company products and services.

Solution
A training program was designed to combine the optimal usage of current materials and tools with the application of new techniques specific to the customers' requirements. The programme was managed from German headquarters and conducted world-wide in local hubs including China, Singapore and the USA.

4. Knowledge Resource Management

Situation
A structured and consistent system is required to familiarise employees of an international merchandise company with the company and its products, services and processes.

Goal
Knowledge and experience is one of the greatest, often untapped, resources available to any company. When this company is internationally active, these resources are of even greater potential importance: experts from around the world should share their current knowledge and experience with colleagues from the company's international offices. Training is to be managed by German headquarters and conducted at the corporate academy in France.

Solution
This project involved the systematic pooling of employees' experience and knowledge in order to concentrate this precious resource for the benefit of all. A combination of training instruction with practical activities and written manuals was designed. Internal instructors received training on how to design training sessions, present information, and implement tools and methods for involving participants and dealing with group dynamics.

5. Support for Field Specialists

Situation
Employees responsible for supporting and training specialists in the hairdressing industry require tools and methods to optimise their results.

Goal
Provide tools and methods for designing and conducting training sessions, briefings and product training. Ensure consistent quality and evaluate competency.

Solution
Modular educational sessions were conducted, providing and practising training methods, tools and techniques. Follow-up workshops offered guidance, competent problem solving and experience exchange. Competency in the methods was measured and evaluated, as were the employees' understanding of the information and their ability to use the tools. A global information-sharing support network was created.
